Air 2S Camera Frame with Pitch Motor Replacement Guide

The Air 2S gimbal uses a camera frame assembly that integrates the pitch (P-axis) motor directly into the camera housing. When the pitch motor fails or the camera frame is physically damaged, the entire camera frame assembly needs to be replaced as a single unit. This guide covers diagnosis and replacement.

Phillips screwdriver (PH000)

Step-by-Step Replacement

Step 1 — Power off and remove the battery.

Step 2 — Remove the gimbal protector. Slide off the rubber gimbal guard.

Step 3 — Remove the front shell. Unscrew the underside screws and carefully separate the front shell using a plastic pry tool.

Step 4 — Disconnect the camera flex cables. The camera frame connects to the gimbal via 1–2 flex ribbon cables. Lift the ZIF connector tabs and slide the cables out. Note the routing.

Step 5 — Disconnect the pitch motor signal cable. The pitch motor has a dedicated signal cable. Disconnect it from the gimbal board.

Step 6 — Remove the camera frame assembly. Unscrew the 2–3 mounting screws securing the camera frame to the roll axis bracket. Carefully lift the entire assembly out.

Step 7 — Install the new camera frame assembly. Seat the new assembly onto the roll axis bracket. Align the mounting holes and secure with screws. Do not overtighten.

Step 8 — Reconnect all cables. Reconnect the pitch motor signal cable and camera flex cables. Lock all ZIF connector tabs firmly.

Step 9 — Reassemble and calibrate. Reattach the front shell. Reinstall the battery, power on, and run gimbal auto-calibration. Verify the camera tilts smoothly on the pitch axis.

Tips

After replacement, test the full range of pitch movement in the app before flying
If the roll axis is also affected, inspect the roll motor separately
Run a gimbal calibration after every camera assembly replacement
