The Mini 5 Pro gimbal uses a mechanical limiter stopper with an integrated arm bracket to prevent the gimbal from rotating beyond its designed range of motion. This component protects the gimbal motors from over-rotation damage. When the limiter stopper is broken or deformed — typically from a crash — the gimbal can rotate past its limits, causing motor overload errors or physical damage to the gimbal assembly.

Step-by-Step Replacement

Step 1 — Power off and remove the battery.

Step 2 — Remove the gimbal protector. Slide off the rubber gimbal guard and inspect the gimbal for visible damage.

Step 3 — Remove the front shell. Unscrew the underside screws and carefully separate the front shell.

Step 4 — Locate the limiter stopper. The mechanical limiter stopper is a small structural component on the gimbal arm bracket that physically stops the gimbal at the end of its rotation range.

Step 5 — Disconnect any cables routed through the bracket. If the arm bracket has cables routed through it, disconnect them carefully before removal.

Step 6 — Remove the damaged stopper and bracket. Unscrew the mounting screws and lift the assembly out.

Step 7 — Install the new stopper and bracket assembly. Seat the new assembly in position. Align the mounting holes and secure with screws. Do not overtighten.

Step 8 — Reconnect any cables. Reconnect any cables that were routed through the bracket.

Step 9 — Reassemble and test. Reattach the front shell. Power on and run gimbal auto-calibration. Verify the gimbal moves smoothly within its normal range without hitting the stops abnormally.

Tips

  • After replacement, manually check that the gimbal stops correctly at both ends of its pitch and roll range before flying
  • If the gimbal motors were also damaged in the crash, replace them at the same time
  • Always run gimbal calibration after any structural gimbal repair
