EVO Max 4T Complete Repair Guide: Common Issues and Parts

The Autel EVO Max 4T is a flagship enterprise drone used in thermal inspection, search and rescue, and public safety operations. Its multi-sensor payload combines a wide camera, zoom camera, thermal camera, and laser rangefinder. This guide covers the most common repair scenarios and the correct replacement parts.

Gimbal Motor Issues

Symptom: Gimbal drifts on one axis / gimbal motor overload error / image unstable

The EVO Max 4T uses dedicated gimbal motors for each stabilization axis. Each motor is a separate replaceable component.

To identify the failed axis, power on the drone and observe which axis is unstable. The Autel Sky app error message typically specifies the axis. For a technical overview of 3-axis gimbal mechanics, see Oscar Liang's gimbal mechanics overview.

IMU Issues

Symptom: IMU error / attitude instability / persistent calibration failure

After an IMU replacement, always perform a fresh IMU calibration before flying. See our IMU calibration guide for step-by-step instructions.

Cooling Fan Issues

Symptom: Overheating warning / thermal throttling / unusual fan noise

The EVO Max 4T uses a dedicated internal cooling fan. A failing fan causes overheating during extended operations in warm environments.

Post-Repair Calibration

After any repair on the EVO Max 4T, perform the following before returning to service:
