Mavic 3 Vision Sensor Cable Replacement Guide

The Mavic 3 uses a multi-directional vision system for obstacle avoidance and precise hovering. Each vision sensor connects to the main board via a dedicated flex ribbon cable. When these cables are damaged — typically from a crash or rough handling — the obstacle avoidance system fails, and you'll see sensor error warnings in the app.

Step-by-Step Replacement

Step 1 — Identify the faulty sensor
Check the app error message to identify which direction sensor has failed (front, rear, or downward TOF). This determines which cable to replace.

Step 2 — Power off and remove the battery
Fully power off and remove the battery before disassembly.

Step 3 — Remove the outer shell
Unscrew the underside screws and carefully separate the drone shell using a plastic pry tool. The vision sensor cables run inside the body.

Step 4 — Locate the damaged cable
The front vision sensor cable (AT00033) runs from the front sensor module to the main board. The rear cable (AT00034) runs from the rear sensor. The TOF cable (AT00025) connects the downward distance sensor.

Step 5 — Disconnect the old cable
Lift the ZIF connector tab at both ends of the cable and slide it out carefully. Do not pull at an angle.

Step 6 — Install the new cable
Route the new cable along the original path. Insert both ends into their ZIF connectors and lock the tabs firmly.

Step 7 — Reassemble and test
Reattach the shell and reinstall the battery. Power on and check the app for sensor status. The obstacle avoidance warning should be gone.

Tips

If multiple sensor directions show errors after a crash, inspect all cables before reassembling
The rear vision sensor protective cover (AT00018) can help prevent future cable damage from rear impacts
After replacement, fly in an open area first to verify all obstacle avoidance directions are working
