Mavic 4 Pro Gimbal Vibration Absorbing Board Replacement Guide
The Mavic 4 Pro uses a gimbal vibration absorbing board to isolate the camera system from airframe and motor vibrations. This damping board is critical for achieving smooth, stable footage — especially during high-speed flight or in windy conditions. When the board degrades or is damaged, vibrations reach the camera directly, causing the jello effect or general footage instability.
Symptoms of a Worn or Damaged Damping Board
- Jello effect (wavy, rolling distortion) in video footage
- Footage vibrates even when the gimbal appears stable
- Visible cracks or deformation on the damping board
- Rubber damping balls missing or hardened
- Gimbal wobbles excessively during flight

Step-by-Step Replacement
Step 1 — Power off and remove the battery.
Step 2 — Remove the gimbal protector. Slide off the rubber gimbal guard.
Step 3 — Remove the front shell. Unscrew the underside screws and carefully separate the front shell.
Step 4 — Locate the vibration absorbing board. The damping board sits between the gimbal assembly and the drone body, held by rubber damping balls at the corners.
Step 5 — Disconnect the gimbal cables. Disconnect the flex cables connecting the gimbal to the main board.
Step 6 — Remove the old damping board. Pull the rubber damping balls out of their sockets and lift the board out. Inspect the damping balls — replace them if hardened or cracked.
Step 7 — Install the new damping board. Press the rubber damping balls into the sockets. Seat the board in the drone body, ensuring all damping balls are fully engaged.
Step 8 — Reconnect the gimbal cables. Reconnect all flex cables and lock the ZIF connector tabs.
Step 9 — Reassemble and test. Reattach the front shell. Power on and record test footage to confirm the jello effect is resolved.
